The Outdoorsy Guys, "OG's," do an annual trip that is planned by Craig. Hours and hours go into the planning of the trip each year to create the most adventurous and awesome trip experience for the group. You get access to that itinerary with full details on where to go, what to do, what too book and all of the relevant details that you can follow as a road map to create your ideal guys adventure vacation without having to start from scratch like the group has to do every year.
If you purchase one of or itineraries, you are getting our recommendations, that's it. Nothing is booked until you book it yourself.
The goal is to simplify your travel planning and help you create memories that last a lifetime while bringing you and your friends closer together.
They will include pretty much everything you can think of doing as a physically active outdoorsy guy.
Primarily we are mountain biking, hiking, climbing, ATV driving, fishing, whitewater rafting, camping, getting lost, getting stuck, making fools of ourselves, drinking lots and lots of beer, and laughing at one another.
If these activities sound like your idea of a good time then we are kindred spirits.
If not, perhaps you should look into a spa vacation with your significant other who wants to talk about feelings all week.
These trips are for anybody who loves to get outside with their friends and enjoy some adventure. To make the most of the itineraries there are some requirements.
1. Reasonable level of fitness. Every plan has activities like hiking, mountain biking, rafting, climbing, fishing, and numerous other things that are more fun when you are fit. However, one of our guys (I'm looking at you Pete) could definitely stand to up his fitness game, but he toughs it out. As of 2020, our ages range from 43 to 51. As we get older, some things may change, but right now we are going hard like a bunch of 20 year old kids. You don't have to be an expert at any of these activities. We definitely are not experts at all of outdoor activities we do, but we do it anyway.
2. This trip is written by a guy who travels with his guy buddies, but I see no reason a group of women couldn't make these trips just as fun for themselves. However, since I'm a guy and I go on the trip myself, it's designed based on what my buddies and I like to do. If you don't enjoy these activities, do something else.
3. Someone with the resources to make the most of the itinerary. We are basically four guys who run our own businesses. This gives us each enough money to spend on the trip, but more importantly, the time to take off for the adventure. We don't break the bank on each trip, but it's definitely costing each of us $2,000 to $5,000 now per trip and taking a week to do most of the itineraries. Costs could be trimmed by us or by you, but life is short and this stuff is why we work our asses off day to day. We've sort of agreed going forward to limit trips to a week so that we can not totally blow off the other obligations of our individual lives.
4. These trips are for people who look at the world as a place full of opportunity for adventure that will produce stellar memories and stories that they can laugh about over a beer with their closest friends. We accept the risks of each activity with the knowledge that something can go wrong and we could get hurt.
Is this you? Only you can answer that question.
No. This isn't some lame bus tour that holds you captive to a fixed schedule. These are suggestions, not requirements. The best part of our journey each year is the spontaneous things that happen. Let the wold come at you and seize the day!
You book everything yourself. You are buying our travel itinerary so you don't have to reinvent the wheel.
Our plans will come with links to everything we did on the trip including where we stayed, tour companies we used, gps locations we visited, and the story of our trip. These links will be suggestions for you to follow, not requirements. We encourage you to also make the trip your own by adding to or deleting things from the itinerary. You may be forced to make changes to it due to factors such as availability of services, lodging, weather, and many other things.
We do encourage you to reach out with questions about your selected itinerary.
Our first trip was in 2015 and we fully intend to keep doing at least one trip per year and then upload new itineraries as they happen. Check back for new ones at least annually.
If you want something custom, you can always try and bribe me to create you something special. Money talks and BS walks.
Unfortunately not. I have a real business with real demands so forgive me if I take some time to respond to your questions. I'll try to answer them all, even the stupid ones.
This website exists because every time I tell people about the OG guys and our trips they always say they'd love to do this themselves. Well, here's your opportunity. You'd be surprised how much time and planning I do annually to put together the perfect itinerary for us all. Nothing gives me greater pleasure than seeing the look on the guys' faces when they see what the day will bring. Well, now you too can look like the hero with a perfectly planned trip.
Since I'm doing this planning and I'm also an opportunist at heart, I might as well try and make a buck off it. Update....I made nothing so now it's just my gift.
